The CTM Solution:

CTM reworked a standard drawing package to accommodate the spatial constraints of the leased space, and to reflect the applicable building code and barrier-free requirements in this 11,600 sq. ft. liquor store. The architectural and design team prepared complete exterior and interior architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical design packages, processed the and building permit applications and completed construction support (including sign-off inspections).

CTM’s experience implementing brand standards across multiple provinces ensured we were well positioned to meet the unique requirements of each jurisdictions. CTM was the architectural and engineering design partner behind an expansion of VANS retail stores into BC, Alberta, and Ontario. Working from the US drawing package, CTM adapted the design to leased retail spaces ranging from 3,000 – 5,000 sq. ft. Each location was tailored to meet the applicable building codes and barrier-free requirements. CTM conducted a thorough review of complete interior, architectural, mechanical, and electrical design packages, obtained permitting approvals, and completed construction support (including sign-off inspections).

The CTM Solution:

CTM Design successfully integrated this convenience store, restaurant, and retail/commercial cardlock and retail gas bar for United Farmer’s Association (UFA). With high traffic volumes for retail vehicles and transport trucks, we optimized the traffic flows for UFA (our primary client) and their tenant (a McDonald’s restaurant with drive-thru). Located beside a major highway, we incorporated significant mixed use parking requirements and optimized the dual corporate site advertising and site-directional signage.

While creating a theme for both brands, our custom-designed convenience store, which now serves as the UFA standard, optimized site usage and integrated common internal access between tenant suites and common washroom facilities. We also coordinated all municipal and provincial approvals, which involved working closely with Alberta Infrastructure & Transportation.

The CTM Solution:

CTM guided the complete project design, contract documents, construction contract administration and substantial performance documentation for Mr. Lube’s Bow Trail store. The corner parcel, situated at a high-volume intersection required an upgraded facility with a four-vehicle service pit. Interior renovations included a new office and staff room. CTM optimized the dual-operation service bay complete with a lowered workspace level.

The CTM Solution:

Designing any building in a National Park involves unique challenges. CTM Architecture completed a conceptual design study for an independent developer looking to introduce a multi-storey restaurant/ retail/accommodation on a space located within a complex infill property inside the Banff Township.

CTM prepared two distinct design proposals. One was a traditional Mountain Architectural scheme created to blend in with the existing surrounding buildings. The other, a contemporary scheme that would ‘stand out’ and break up the existing façade. CTM conducted feasibility studies and played a lead role in development discussions with the Town of Banff.
